At first I thought using Twitter was going to be horrible, but after a few days it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. However, I will no longer be using Twitter. To me it seems like another one of those websites like Facebook and MySpace that I’ll just get addicted too and spend way too much time on.
I already spend a lot of time on Facebook, and if I were tweeting all of the time I would never get anything accomplished. Having to tweet even for just a week, I found myself spending a lot of time on Twitter looking at what everyone had posted, when I should be doing something more productive. I feel sites such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and many others are very addicting and end up wasting a lot of time.
Over our week of Twitter I found it very hard to have twenty quality posts that were actually something other than what I was doing. To find a link to post, would require a lot more time on the internet looking for something interesting to post for everyone to see. In the end I would usually post a quote, or what I was doing which was not very interesting to everyone else.
A few years from now I think having a Twitter account might mean more to me than now. It will be a nice way to keep in touch with friends whom I’ve lost touch with over the years. It would also be handy to keep up to date on activities around the world. In the end I think getting an experience of Twitter was a good thing. Years from now I may decide to get a Twitter account, but for now it has to go.
Good points Jessica! Very true, I feel the same way! I feel like I do waste a lot of time on Facebook when I could be doing something more productive. Twitter is a great way to get instant updates about events happening around the world as well.
ReplyDeleteI can see where you're coming from with not wanting to use Twitter. I get side tracked easily enough with just Facebook, but maybe someday I'll return to Twitter.
ReplyDeleteNice post Jessica. It's good that you can see the benefits of it but at the same time realize that maybe it's not in your best interest at the moment with everything else on your plate. It's a good thing to keep in mind with anything we decide to do; how it can affect your time spent and what that time should be used for.
ReplyDeleteI got side tracked sometimes too, but i agree with your blog well done
ReplyDeleteGood points. I like your post! I agree with your opinion on twitter!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you. It is time consuming when you combine the time it takes to look up a link. It may come in handy later, but I won't be an active tweeter either.
ReplyDeleteI agree with it having to go. I also see the pluses of having an account, I just don't see how they pertain to me yet.
ReplyDeletei will be disappointed not to see you in my twitter feed from now on but I definitely agree with it being one of the many contributors to time wasting. Good blog!
ReplyDeleteI agree, twitter and facebook could definitely be big wastes of time.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought of twitter was that it is a waste of time, but as you start using it you do get used to it. Good post
